Every month I do a blog to update you all with what’s new in the Hazelton Haus, particularly since Coronavirus has made it so hard to get together! So welcome to February’s personal blog post, chock full of cute baby smiles and lots and lots and lots of snow!!
One of the delightful aspects about Midwest living is that during the winter there’s a lot of sunshine! Between that, the leaves off the trees, and snow all over the ground bouncing light around it’s actually a fair sight more cheerful in the winter than some of the other places I’ve lived! We did our best to get out and enjoy the sunshine regardless of the cold – just piling on more layers till we were warm. 🙂
The first signs of spring…tiny magnolia buds!
She’s 10 months old! She’s got sitting figured out and is moving right along to trying to pull up and climb. One of her favorite activities is to climb over us again and again while we lie on the floor next to her and try not to fall asleep. Pandemic parenting!
Something cool! My new #KHPSeniorRepTeam OPRF HS rep was up on the local theater marquee for her birthday! Of course I had to run down to take a few photos…I do not recommend photographing in 15 degree weather without gloves while it’s snowing.
Tickles, laughs, and snuggles.
I made blueberry scones!
Our son developed a new fascination with pirates; here he is with a “spyglass” and “eyepatch.” Meanwhile our daughter got skilled with drinking from a straw.
And also developed a fascination for crawling under tables.
He made a heart with a slap bracelet for Valentine’s Day.
Yes, Mom’s taking photos of you again.
A Valentine’s Day miracle! They cooperated for about 2 minutes!
She crawled over to the bookcases and selected the book “Who loves baby?” herself. I was impressed with her prop choice.
Ballpit time!
Doing some reading and some puzzles with mom during conference week.
Bug and I went Giant Icicle Hunting and saw some pretty amazing sights! The first was a….snow stroller?! Bug found some tiny icicles on the red garbage truck dumpster (check out that logo! hah!) and since he’s utterly obsessed with garbage trucks he requested a shot.
3 story icicles.
It was a pretty big snowfall. Probably close to 2 ft? It’s so hard to see, but this house had a 10′ icicle hanging off their eaves.
Snow couldn’t stop us from getting outside! We went to Columbus Park on a balmy 17 degree day and Bug wanted to go to the playground. My husband stomped a path through the 2′ snow for them to go!
Waffle fiend.
Making bath bombs and shoveling.
I had a fun winter photoshoot and my husband and daughter managed to photobomb us.
Our sweet friend who lives in New Zealand sent Starbucks ceramic tumblers since she knows we collect them. I also may have gone overboard adding cups to collection off of Ebay at 3 AM. (Cups on the counter are the recent acquisitions). Our friend also sent penguin and kiwi stuffed animals for the kids.
Happy smiles after nap….and guilty faces when she’s busted trying to climb the stairs.
Soft dragon stuffed animal!
Getting outside on a warmer day to enjoy some fresh air after cold temperatures kept us inside for a week and a half…and enjoying chomping on dad’s hoodie strings, too.
The last week of February and first week or so of March has been a doozy between two sick kids and new teeth – but I hope you’ll join me next month in the second-to-last installment before my daughter turns 1!
