Gorgeous Midsummer Photos | Wheaton Photographer

Hi, I'm Kristen!
I'm an award-winning senior portrait and family photographer based out of Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area. I love sunshine, cacti, chocolate chips, and a great cup of tea - but most of all I love photographing joyful clients. :)

Family of three with a brown dog walking through a sunny meadow with cattails and thistles by Wheaton Photographer Kristen Hazelton.

As a Wheaton photographer, I’m so glad this family contacted me for their family photography needs! We had such a fun time together taking bright and colorful family photos at this meadow with their puppy! My client contacted me wishing for vibrant photos in a secluded location – they really wanted to include their energetic young dog and were concerned that a more populated area would lead to a distracted dog and shy daughter. Not to worry – we found a great spot!

Aren’t they sweet?! Look at those happy smiles on everyone! This Wheaton photographer makes sure to bring a freshly washed white blanket to my photoshoots so clients have a clean, dry place to sit!

This girl had such stunning eyes. I love this close-up portrait of her!

This is such a beautiful family!

This is one of my favorite shots of their sweet puppy – so many options for “caption this!”

“I GUESS KISSES ARE OKAY.”

“IF YOU MUST.”

“I’M DOING THIS FOR THE TREATS AFTERWARD.”

As a Wheaton family photographer, I always make sure we get “look at the camera for Grandma” photos, but also more natural and relaxed shots so clients get a variety of options in their galleries.

Isn’t this a fun shot? We found lots of thistle fluff (very technical term) at this meadow and this girl was a champion thistle-fluff blower! For any inquiring minds that wished to know (I was curious!), the ACTUAL technical term for seed fluff is called a pappus, plural is pappi! I love the whimsy and magic of this image!

This girl really loves her dog and it was so important to the family to include their puppy! I love the images we got of the two of them interacting! There’s clearly a lot of love between these two!

I was a little concerned about finding a colorful location for this family because we needed to reschedule and the flowery locations I initially found had stopped blooming a month later. I really love the way this location turned out, though! We had beautiful yellows and greens in the grasses, and purple thistle flowers! Luckily, we were able to photograph right next to the thistles for some vibrancy, but without getting poked!

One of the parts I liked best about this location is that you can get the look of a meadow with tall grass without needing to walk through the meadow. These pet owners appreciated not needing to check their dog over for seeds and insects when the photoshoot was through!

Their sweet puppy decided they’d rather give kisses than look at the camera, and I was here for it!

I love the relaxed, happy photos we got at their photoshoot and I’m so glad they brought their dog along! I’m glad they chose me as their Wheaton family photographer. 🙂

Here’s what my client had to say about their experience!

If I could give Kristen *more* than 5 stars, I would. I am blown away at the quality of photos we received from our session with her. They are gorgeous images that perfectly capture the personality of our family. Kristen was lovely to work with from start to finish. She responded promptly to my inquiry and gave me all the information I needed to make a decision.

She efficiently captured what we were seeking, scouted out various options for locations (and managed to find one that would make it easy to include our puppy), and followed up when she said she would. During the photo shoot, she quickly connected with our 9-year old, which immediately brought out the best in her. Kristen is immensely talented!

Kristen Hazelton is an Oak Park, IL (West Chicagoland) and Livermore, CA (San Francisco East Bay Area) graduating senior and family photographer. She occasionally photographs in San Diego, CA, Santa Cruz, CA and Seattle, WA. You can inquire about your own photoshoot here!
