Jamie and Niall are dear friends of mine and I was SO happy to be their photographer for their engagement session! Their photoshoot was at a cool, hipster-y loft in West Oakland, a renovated and repurposed factory; it had a cool colorful and industrial vibe!
In Jamie’s words:
“We met at an art show that a friend of a friend invited me to. There I met his dad and step mom and his sister (who I already knew socially). Conversation was just easy with him. I felt at ease, and totally comfortable in my own skin. Late into the night we realized there were so many times we almost met. Like the universe was trying to bring us together. He asked for my number with “well, you’ve met my family. Do you want to go on a date?”
I knew he was a keeper in my bones pretty early on. I knew I was going to marry him before I could say I loved him. One of the first times I went to his house, I was sitting at the kitchen table while he cooked dinner and meal prepped for the week. I remember watching him work in the kitchen and thinking this guy is a keeper. He’s a planner, he’s self sufficient, he values home cooked meals and does chores. All hard things to find in a man! And he admired me, and held deep conversation, and values his family. I swooned.”
Jamie and Niall, I’m proud to call you two my friends and I can’t wait for your wedding next year!
I love it when there are pets at the photoshoot! What a cutie!
“Can you tell Jamie a secret?” Apparently it was a pretty funny secret!
I love the way they look at each other!
This is my favorite photo of the bunch and they are laughing at me because I fell over when taking this shot. 10/10 would do again to get these smiles!
This couple has a shared passion of long-distance biking to raise funds for climate change – including in the national parks and even as far away as Iceland! When we saw some bikes we knew we needed to incorporate them into a couple of shots. This is one of Jamie’s favorites – she said it looks like a magazine ad!
There was a lot of variety at this location, from brick and metal backgrounds to interestingly textured smoke bushes and flower beds. I’d happily photograph here again!
Jamie and Niall, thank you for trusting me to take your engagement photos. This was so fun, and I can’t wait for your wedding next year!
