Early this month this Lombard, IL photographer met up with this wonderful family for some spring Mother’s Day photos in gorgeous Lilacia Park! Lilacia Park is only about 25 minutes west of Oak Park, and it is STUNNING! Shockingly there are tons of lilac bushes, but also daffodils, tulips, crabapples, and peonies. The west coast doesn’t have spring flowers like this, and it was a joy to see this amazing explosion of color – and even better, to photograph a beautiful family there!

You may remember my KHP Senior Model Rep Solana from her beautiful golden hour fall senior photos with her guitar! Her family wanted a Mother’s Day shoot to complement her spring senior photos!
Peak flowers and a beautiful sunny day for their shoot! Woohoo!!
Also, I love these shots with the sisters!
My favorite shot of the three of them! They’re such lovely people and with that sun and the beautiful flowers it was just such a great photoshoot!
They really wanted to re-create a photograph with them kissing mom, I think I turned out beautifully!
Hi, I’m Kristen! I’m a former plant biologist who loves photography, sunshine, and flowers! This photoshoot was so much fun for me that I’m having to restrain myself big-time from gushing about everything this entire blog post.
(oooh! fancy purple tulips with lots of anthocyanin pigment!!)
“Can you tell Mom something you love about her?”
I’ll go first: “Stephanie, I love your amazing smile!”
The park is filled to bursting with lilac bushes and they were in peak bloom! So, the air was thick with lilac fragrance and we kept stopping to find the ones with the best aroma!
I love this shot of the two of them!
And another favorite!
I’ll post about the senior portraits we did here in a week or two, so check back soon!
