Excited to share some gorgeous Lincoln Park zoo senior photos today!! This sweet client came from Minnesota for her senior photos with me, what an honor!
We got an absolutely stunning day in early fall – but with the sunny skies came CHILLY winds! You can’t tell it from the photos, but this client was an absolute rockstar braving the 35 degree weather PLUS windchill in her sun dress! You never know what weather you’re going to get in Chicago while the seasons change!
This iconic structure at the Lincoln Park nature boardwalk, affectionately called the “Honeycomb” is actually called the “People’s Gas Education Pavilion,” designed by architect Jeanne Gang and Studio Gang, based out of Chicago. Apparently the design is meant to mimic a tortoiseshell!
This honeycomb structure is such a popular photo location that I actually had an assistant “hold our spot in line” while we took photos close by! We literally had about 2 minutes in this location, and yet got so much beautiful variety!
Love the “rainbows” in these photos! Yellow goldenrod and grasses, then trees, then blue skies and skyline in the background! ?
My favorite shot of the day on the right! I love the powerful pose with the lead lines and iconic John Hancock center in the background!

I love this shot. Look at the confidence!!
My client is a ballet dancer and wanted to incorporate her love of dance into her photos! I do not have a dance background and was concerned about being able to coach my client with posing, so I brought along my fellow photographer and ballet instructor friend Abbie! With her assistance I felt confident that we were serving my client to the utmost!
There was a special pose that my client’s mom did for her senior photos, so it was important to her that we recreate the shot!
Peak Fall was still a few weeks away, but we got some lovely fall color for some variety by using one magnificently orange tree!
Lincoln Park has such a variety of background locations! My client’s photoshoot ended up being two hours long, and I loved the variety of images that I could get for her!
I asked my client about her nail polish and rings and she said it was to reflect her love of Harry Styles! 1) I love it when clients layer in their hobbies and interests into their photos, and 2) I love how many of my senior clients this year are into Harry Styles! How fun!! I ended up editing her whole gallery while listening to his Fine Line album!
Credit where it’s due: Abbie suggested the pose on the right and I loved this quiet moment in nature with the busy urban skyline in the background! What a fun juxtaposition.
Kristen is the absolute best!! This was one of the best experiences ever! She made me feel so comfortable and we had so much fun. Kristen went above and beyond with planning the entire photoshoot and made everything so easy for us. I would love to work with her again!!
