Sharing today a fun library photoshoot from this summer! My client is an avid reader and wanted to show off her love of books by using the public library as the backdrop for her senior photos.
Library Photoshoot Ideas
But, as is the case in a challenging location, the constraints bring out creativity. Let me share some of the library photoshoot ideas we came up with!
In this case we were only allowed permission on one floor of the library with books that didn’t exactly resonate with the vibe we were going for – so I asked my client to bring some of her own that were actually meaningful to her.
The library insisted on no off-camera flash, which limited our location choices to those sections with the best lighting. We made do with just a few aisles that were as close to the windows as we could get!
Third, because there’s only so much you can do with the rows of books, we got creative with our poses to add interest. I’m so glad my client was up for trying some unconventional poses for her library senior pictures!
Library Senior Pictures
For her library senior pictures my client brought in some of her favorite books to read, and thankfully was down (literally) to get on the ground for some more interesting angles! I really enjoy the leading lines we were able to get from this angle!
Photoshoot in Library
We chose to grab some books off the shelves along with some of my client’s favorites that she brought in to add some meaningful interest to her photoshoot in the library. We also borrowed one of the library’s step stools! I love the book choices my client brought – they’re some of my favorites, too!
Hair and makeup provided by Oak Park’s own Lauren Frenden, and she did an absolutely lovely job. She’s the hair and makeup artist I trust for myself when I want to get dressed up!
One of our library photo ideas involved framing my client through two bookshelves. Once again we put the books she brought into the image to frame the shot, rather than relying on the books present on the shelves.
Library Photo Ideas
One of the last library photo ideas we had was to take photos outside the library – this particular building has interesting architecture and is right next to a park so it made for another interesting way to show off my client’s love of reading and the library!
Here’s what my client had to say about her experience!
Kristen was a dream to work with for Senior photos! She was so professional and fun! From beginning to end she had all the answers and was such a joy to work with. We loved that her information and pricing was clear and up front and that she did several checkins during the whole planning process from style, locations, and outfits! She even scouts the location for the ideal spots and lighting. Her planning is above and beyond expectations!
I ended up getting sick and not able to join my husband and kids for the session but I wasn’t worried at all leaving it in Kristen’s capable hands! And the photos are gorgeous and will truly be treasured! Our album came speedy quick and looks so good! Overall a great experience for both me and our Senior!
